Dominican Republic Mission Trip

DOM REPORT

July was a busy month as 88 people participated in the Dominican Republic Mission Trip. On July 10 – 17, twenty-eight missionaries from six different churches out of the Association participated in a week of VBS, evangelism, and evangelistic meetings in the area of Esperanza in the region of Mao. The final count for the week in VBS was over 400. During that week, 25 adults made professions of faith. We saw eight baptisms and handed out about 1000 lbs of school supplies.

On July 24 – 31, fifty-four missionaries from six churches in the MBA plus one church from North Carolina and one from South Carolina also participated in VBS, evangelism, evangelistic meetings, and a medical clinic. Once again more than 400 children attended VBS that week. We saw eight baptisms and over 150 adults make professions of faith. The medical clinic saw more than 150 families and handed out over 1000 lbs of medicines. Another 1000 pounds of school supplies were also given to the children. This project was conducted in the area of Burco which is about 10 miles north of Piedra Gorda. One of the recent converts offered her home to launch a new church and the Primera Iglesia de Burco was born with twenty of the recent converts attending. We continue to pray that God would increase this work and that a suitable place can be found for them to worship in.

We are about halfway to completion on the construction project for the school in Piedra Gorda. . Our prayer and hope is to have the project completed by December of this year. It will take faith and a great deal of sacrifice but we are trusting God and the generosity of the churches of the MBA to help finish this much needed project.

We are also in the process of getting the dates for the Dominican Republic Missions Trip for 2011. Look for more information to come.
