Dominican Republic Mission Trip

 
2012
DOMINICAN REPUBLIC MISSION TRIP INFORMATION
 
Dates:                         July 21st – July 28th
 
Cost:               $600.00 + Airfare (At the current prices the total cost would be $1200.00)
 
We will leave the MBA office together at 9:00 AM on Saturday, July 21st and will arrive in Santiago at 8:30 PM.
 
We will return on Saturday, July 28 and arrive in Tampa at 3:10 PM.

You might be able to find better prices going from other airports (Orlando, Jacksonville, etc.). As long as you get to Santiago by 9 PM on Saturday, July 21 we will wait for you.
 
Activities:
 
This year we are going to be in Esperanza with our VBS teams. We will be doing VBS two times a day Monday – Wednesday of that week. We have secured a new site to hold our VBS and also to have our meals. The location is Sports Complex in the heart of Esperanza. This will eliminate a lot of travel time. We are also planning to do evangelistic services every evening in the park. There may be some other opportunities for light construction, painting, and medical care depending on who goes and the progress of the construction project. We still are planning to have a beach day and doing a shopping trip one morning.
 
First Steps:
 
1.         Work towards purchasing your airfare. You will not be placed on the official team until you have your flight reserved.
 
2.         Once you have your flight booked, get the information and details to MBA so that we can begin to formulate the Team.
 
 
3.         Our next team meeting will be Thursday, March 1st at 7 PM at the MBA office.
 
4.         Starting in March we will begin to collect the funds for the trip.
 
$100.00 by March 1th

$200.00 by May 31st
$100.00 by June 21st
            Final payment of $100 by July 12th
 
5.         Because of travel expenses we are changing some of the things that we take down. This year we are not going to ask you to take heavy school supplies. We will give away some pencils and pens to the kids at the end of VBS. The goal is to eliminate perhaps having to take a second bag.
 
6.         *Be sure your passport is up to date!
 
General Information:
 
You don’t need to have any extra shots to go on this trip. Only if you want to for your own peace of mind.
 
Besides the cost of the trip you the only other money that you will need is for the airport tax in the DR ($20) and for two meals one going and one coming.
 
You will not be asked to do a whole of strenuous activities on this trip (no mountains to clime) but you will be outdoors a great deal of the time and it is a tropical Island on the Caribbean in July.
 
As the team solidifies you will be informed the various opportunities to serve on the team. We will do the best we can to let you serve in the area that you choose.
 
Go ahead and fill the application form as soon as feel led to go on this trip. But remember that you will not be officially on the team until you have purchased you airfare.
