A Word from our Director
"KINGDOM NOTES"
As I look back to all that we were able to accomplish this past year I am once again amazed at the goodness of God. We started the year with a request from two churches for membership into the Association bringing our total 76 churches and missions. This year we will vote on one of our missions (The Vine Community Church) to become a full participating member of the Association. We are currently working with two new Haitian missions that likely be added sometime this Fall. In all we are quickly approaching 80 church mark.
In January, College Road once again hosted our Missions Banquet for over 200 people as we heard what God is doing in Brazil, Haiti, and Eastern Europe. Also throughout the Spring and Fall we hosted nine pastor’s conferences, a VBS training clinic, two women’s missions and ministry events, and our Key Leader Workshop. This year’s Key Leader Workshop was one of the most highly attended with over 300 in attendance.
January also brought the second semester of CLIMB with 10 pastors participating in this small-peer-learning process that was started in 2006. As of date, 30 pastors in the Association have participated in the past 5 years. We will launch our fourth group in January of 2012.
This year also brought us some challenges with regards to our building. As many of you are aware, we are having some structural issues with the building which have become more acute in the past few months. In June we retained an attorney to help us navigate the murky waters of the insurance world. The claim is still in review by the insurance company to determine who is responsible for what. As soon as we get word about what they are going to do (or not going to do), the attorney will inform us as to what our options are and what our next step will be. Pray that God will resolve this soon so that we can take the steps to repair the current damage to the building.
As we look to the coming year, we will no doubt face more of the same challenges that we faced in 2011. The budget cuts that many of our churches have experienced throughout this past year have affected us like everyone else. In spite of that, however, we have been blessed to see how God has provided for what we needed throughout the year. It is due to the faithfulness of the churches in this Association. May God continue to use us to spread His Kingdom throughout Marion County and beyond.
